A law firm is set to expand with a takeover.
Fletchers Group has agreed a deal to buy Scott Rees & Co Solicitors.
The acquisition – worth an undisclosed sum – is expected to complete in February.
Under the terms of the deal, Scott Rees’ near 100-strong workforce will join Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Southport-based Fletchers Group, with managing partner Royston Smith set to be replaced by Fletchers’ Charlene Mann following a short transition period.
Newton-le-Willows-based Scott Rees, known for support on employers' liability, public liability, fatal accident claims and clinical negligence, will retain its office close to Haydock Park racecourse.
The deal marks Fletchers’ second takeover in a year following its agreement for Serious Injury Law in February 2024.
And Peter Haden, Fletchers Group chief executive, said the operator will continue seeking expansion opportunities thanks to backing from Pemberton Asset Management and owner Sun European Partners.
He said: “Scott Rees is a successful North West law firm built on high standards of client service and professionalism, making it a great fit.
“We are wholly committed to long-term growth in the personal injury sector, where Scott Rees is already well-established, and we warmly welcome our new colleagues to strengthen our legal practice and build on their success.”
Royston added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our people and the clients we serve – it is the right move at the right time.
“Fletchers has the capability, access to cases and investment support to ensure long-term growth and provide colleagues with more opportunities for career progression.”
