Hay & Kilner guides Colman’s of Aysgarth deal

A North East law firm has supported the takeover of a Yorkshire Dales-based hospitality and leisure business.

Hay & Kilner LLP advised Peter and Teresa Wakefield on their purchase of Colman’s of Aysgarth, a boutique guesthouse and campsite located in the Wensleydale village of Aysgarth. 

The site spans 1.7 acres and features a touring caravan park, residential accommodation and proximity to attractions such as Aysgarth Falls and the Herriot Way. 

The Wakefields, along with their son Harry, are making a career change, with Peter managing the guesthouse and Harry overseeing the campsite. 

Peter said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be the new owners of Colman’s of Aysgarth. 

“It’s a complete career change from our former life in dentistry but we’re looking forward to our new life in the country and welcoming guests to this beautiful part of Yorkshire. 

“As keen motorcyclists we also hope to attract bikers in the future and offer local tours.’

Hay & Kilner’s corporate team, led by John Morgan and supported by Georgia Whitfield, provided legal support for the acquisition, with its residential conveyancing team led by Claire Simmons, partner and head of residential conveyancing, handling the sale of the Wakefields’ previous home to help fund the transaction.
