Muse hails 'defining' £500 million Lewisham scheme

A developer has completed a £500 million capital residential and leisure scheme.

Muse has finished work on Lewisham Gateway, in South East London.

Bosses the 14-acre project represents “a defining moment in the history of Lewisham”.

More than 1000 homes have been built, alongside shops, cafes, restaurants, workspace, a gym and multiplex cinema.

Spanning more than 20 years, bosses say the scheme has also uncovered and re-routed two rivers and significantly improved transport connectivity.

Muse worked with Lewisham Council, the Mayor of London, Transport for London and Homes England on the project.

Chris Coxall, Muse project director, said: “From the outset, we were determined to ensure this was more than just a regeneration project.

“By uniting around a shared vision and goals with our partners and the community, we have come together to overcome critical challenges and realise this long-term, transformative change. 

“Lewisham Gateway is testament to the power of public-private partnership working.”

Rick De Blaby, chief executive of built-to-rent operator Get Living, which has taken ownership of a phase of the site known as The Filigree, said: “This exceptional regeneration project has changed the face of Lewisham and marked the beginning of a new community.”

Councillor Brenda Dacres, mayor of Lewisham, added: “I am thrilled the benefits of Lewisham Gateway will be felt for generations to come.”
