Sound investment

A Tees music business has been awarded a grant to expand its facilities for music marketing and promotion. Blinded by Sound, a recording and music production company, received £5800 from the Cultural Business Venture (CBV). CBV is a grant scheme managed by Arts Council England, North East which offers up to £6,000 to businesses for start-up and development costs for new businesses. In addition to promotion, Blinded by Sound will be using the grant to expand its range of recording resources and will be investing in a portable Protools system. Protools is the music industry standard recording platform and is used on approximately 90% of commercial music. The portable system will allow clients to record within their chosen environment rather than the sterile environment of a recording studio. Local heroes The Futureheads have recently released their new album which was recorded in a similar fashion when they recorded in an old cottage in Scarborough.Matt Burrows of Blinded by Sound said “The CBV grant will allow the business to really take off. The music industry can be a difficult environment in which to operate, the grant will help us to position ourselves for the best chance of success.“Blinded by Sound is currently available for new music and audio projects.
